Corporate portal doesn't work with Linux (or Firefox)

The Convergys corporate intranet is supposed to be available over the
internet at my.convergys.com, but it doesn't appear to work on any
browser on Linux. Opera and Chrome work only when running on Windows and
Firefox never works even when it is running on Windows. When it works,
the site prompts for a username and password, but with any browser on
Linux or Firefox on Windows it simply gives:

HTTP Status 401 -

type Status report

message

description This request requires HTTP authentication ().
Sun-Java-System/Application-Server

without prompting for a username or password. Can anyone tell why this
is happening or if there is a way to login from a Linux machine?

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ Install Java.

=============================================================== From: "Robert A. Kelly III" ------------------------------------------------------ Ok, that works perfectly in Firefox on Debian for me as well. But how did you get that url?

=============================================================== From: "Robert A. Kelly III" ------------------------------------------------------ Having a working Java installation on the client side doesn't seem to affect the behavior.

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ Installed as a browser module? And my favorite part of Java: The application may be really really picky (and stupid) about the exact Java client install you have. But point blank... I was hoping that was an easy one. Darn. Wished it worked.

=============================================================== From: "Robert A. However, the url Ed gave works, but I'm not sure how he got it and I still have no explanation for the observed behavior when simply loading my.convergys.com, so I'm still curious what is going on.

=============================================================== From: "Robert A.
