=============================================================== From: Ed King ------------------------------------------------------ a few random memories of what I heard or THOUGHT I heard about 40 people showed up (guesstimate) approx 14,000 square feet on 4th floor the space is current filled with a lot of stuff (desks, chairs, shelving, etc), so... gonna be an auction on Sept 1st 10am internet connectivity by mid-Sept goal: knowledge production (creative commons license) ideas thrown around... internet tv broadcast station (with robot battle shows!) a podcast recording studio give a kid an incomplete/broken computer, the "price" s/he pays is learning how to make it work classes on various topics (linux installation, programming, robot creation, etc) film festivals (projector) skating rink ;-) I believe Nate was opposed to long term (and possibly even short term) storage of our stuff, altho I think I heard an idea of adding various linux distro installation disks to the library catalog Also frowned upon was certain activities such as welding (too risky) altho there was mention of possibly allowing soldering if vent stacks were in place that's all I can remember off the top of me head. I lost a few brain cells on my way home so some of all of the above may be bogus

=============================================================== From: Michael Scholten ------------------------------------------------------ I asked about the video and whether or it was going to be available. He (sadly I'm terrible with names) said he was going to do done minor editing and the give us a link. Not sure how long though... On another note, great meeting everyone! -Michael

=============================================================== From: Mike Harrison ------------------------------------------------------ Some notes were written on the walls, in marker and pencil by short and tall. Ideas were presented, mostly meeting space, no welding, or flames, just in case. Pillip Luckey filmed and recorded, but sometimes a few words are ordered. Some open storage was suggested, a place to share and learn was tested. No idea took major hold, Nor was tossed out in the cold. Some assets; Bandwidth and digital space make some interest in the space. The meme to create content, not just consume soon pervaded the entire room. Mike wrote on the wall: Creative Commons licensing for all. They seek a convergence of many groups, artists and geeks to explore some roots. As public neutral common space, it offered possibilities to embrace. Access,. maybe 24/7 to the place. Al last we broke into a banter, roving groups all a chatter. Adjourning to the Pickel Barrel, we drank and feasted, as if feral. With ideas burbling in our heads, we all went home to sleep in beds. -----------------------------------

=============================================================== From: Chad Smith ------------------------------------------------------ Clever and insightful, Sakes alive On Slashdot surely I'd give Plus Five Thank you for the minutes rhyme I sure that must have taken time My meter sucks and my rhymes are overused This isn't a poem as much as it is abuse So I will stop trying to reply in kind And just say thanks for the report. Did ever notice that nothing really rhymes with "poem"? Odd, huh? *- Chad W. Smith*

=============================================================== From: Tim Youngblood ------------------------------------------------------ Loam? def. A specific type of soil: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loam

=============================================================== From: Dee Holtsclaw ------------------------------------------------------ Or "owe 'em", but that's two words. Sorta kinda. Loam doesn't *quite* sound the same, but it is arguably close enough. You should have heard us around the house when I wrote "T'was the Night Before Chattacon" for the Program Book years ago. Most was easy, the rest ... not so much.
