From: Cameron Kilgore ------------------------------------------------------ Got this from ALE after inquiring why GTlib was down this weekend ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Watson, Keith Date: Mon, Oct 24, 2011 at 10:28 AM Subject: Re: [ale] ga tech mirror? To: Atlanta Linux Enthusiasts This was sent out at 16:10 10/18/2011 to a GT computer support staff mailing list. There has not been an update since then. ============= Begin Forward ============= For those of you that use (or have users that use) GTlib (aka {www,ftp,rsync}.gtlib.gatech.edu), it's down and running a filesystem check. It has eaten itself pretty throughly, and will likely be down for a while while I reconstruct the bits. For those of you depending on this for critical services, don't. ever. GTlib is not a production service. ============= End Forward ============= keith -- Keith R. =============================================================== From: Adam Jimerson ------------------------------------------------------ GTlib has been down for a week now... there is a Sheevaplug sitting on my desk at work that was affected by this. Its nice to have a local mirror like Georgia Tech, would be better if we had a reliable local repo.

=============================================================== From: Adam Jimerson ------------------------------------------------------ Atlanta or closer, the Georgia tech site mirrored repos for various large distros: *buntu, Debian, Fedora, openSUSE, Arch and more than likely many more. The only other mirror of that size I know of that is close is in North Carolina but it not has fast as GT (until recently that is)

=============================================================== From: William Wade ------------------------------------------------------ I think that means that someone needs to set one up in Chattanooga. :)

=============================================================== From: Rod-Lists ------------------------------------------------------ Surprised no has already. I've thought about setting up one for sparc & powerpc but not sure if I want open it up to world. There are folk here with much fatter pipe than I. ----- Original Message ----- From: William Wade To: CHUGALUG Sent: Tue, 25 Oct 2011 07:02:40 -0400 (EDT) Subject: Re: [Chugalug] PSA: Don't ever use GTlib to update your Linux repo again I think that means that someone needs to set one up in Chattanooga. :)

=============================================================== From: Adam Jimerson ------------------------------------------------------ I'm kind of surprised there isn't one already, would be awesome if someone had the resources and ability to set one or two up on a fiber connection.

=============================================================== From: Aaron Welch ------------------------------------------------------ It would be even more awesome for EPB to man up and host it. :+P -AW : had the resources and ability to set one or two up on a fiber connection.
